About Me
¡Hola! I’m María, a passionate and experienced native Spanish teacher and tutor based in Brooklyn Heights, with over 13 years of dedicated teaching experience. My personal journey as a bilingual parent has enriched my understanding of the challenges and rewards of language learning for students of all ages.
I am deeply committed to fostering a strong connection to the Spanish language and its rich cultural heritage among learners. I believe language acquisition should be both joyful and empowering, and I strive to create an environment where students feel excited to explore and learn.
My approach to teaching is inclusive, ensuring that every student feels valued and motivated, no matter their starting point. I create a learning space that is rigorous yet nurturing, adapting to the unique needs of each individual.
By integrating project-based learning, technology, and artistic disciplines, I offer a holistic approach to language education. My students are encouraged to take risks and embrace mistakes as essential steps in both language acquisition and personal growth.
Let’s embark on this enriching language journey together, where every lesson is an opportunity to grow, explore, and connect with the vibrant and diverse world of Spanish.

My Journey
Born in Barcelona and raised in Buenos Aires and Mexico City, my multicultural upbringing has given me a profound understanding of global education and bilingualism. This diverse background, combined with over a decade of teaching experience in both public and private settings allows me to bring a unique perspective to language education.
My journey in education began in Mexico, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Hispanic Languages and Literature at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), graduating with honors. I then pursued an MFA in Creative Writing in Spanish at NYU, also with honors.
I have had the privilege of teaching at prestigious institutions such as: Saint Ann’s School, New York University, Fordham University, Fashion Institute of Technology, John Jay College and Brooklyn College among others, which has enriched my approach to language education.
As a native Spanish speaker fluent in both Spanish and French, I offer an authentic and comprehensive learning experience. My approach is tailored to the unique learning styles and goals of each student. For children, I use engaging methods like games, songs, and storytelling to make learning Spanish fun. For adults, I focus on real-life applications and cultural immersion, ensuring a personalized and effective learning experience for all.
